New Logo/Image for our gallery

This new logo was designed by our good friend Nishida Eiko, who also designed all the wonderful labels on Baird Beer, see their respective homepages at http://www.cooltiger.net/ and http://www.bairdbeer.com/ I've always been fond of red and black and Nishida brought these two colors together in a harmonious way incorporating a red vessel with the black kanji for tou or pottery. We hope you like it.

Miwa Article in Japan Times/New Jozan

Greetings and as the summer draws to a close please do look for more frequent updates here. Two quick items here, first is that an article I wrote on the Miwa Jusetsu exhibition for The Japan Times can be read here: http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fc20060824ry.html

What must be the quickest any potter has taken his family's honored name goes to Yamada Emu who is know Yamada JozanIV. Most potters wait at least a year or two before the previous generation has left us. Yamada's commemorative exhibition using the name Jozan will be held in Tokyo at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi from Sept.12-18.

'Cool' Art Festival

One way to heat the heat this summer is get out of the city and head for the country. If you happen to be in that mode--and also happen to be in Japan--here is a very cool event happening throughout the remaining summer days and into early autumn:
